THEY EXAMINED THE SCRIPTURES EVERYDAY

    THEY EXAMINED THE SCRIPTURES EVERYDAY

Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. As a result, many of them believed, as did also a number of prominent Greek women and many Greek men.
Acts 17:11‭-‬12 NIV

This was a good crop of believers from the  Jewish Community who took their time to examine the  Scriptures in order to determine the correctness of the exposition or application of the word.

TERMS:
Search/ examine in Greek is "Anakrinontes"
meaning  to examine in order to separate or approve. Search in order to determine or judge  correctness.

TRANSITIONAL
These days require the Berean calibre of believers who will put to the test every word pronounced in order to determine its correctness or authenticity.

1. NOBLE CHARACTER
The action of the Berean Jews was an acceptable and commendable behaviour or practice in the eyes of all those who observed their practice. They demonstrated  " Good Practice "  to be emulated by believers and scholars.

2. RECEIVED THE MESSAGE
The obvious thing from this statement is that their minds  and hearts were open to receive the message. The message carried the substance which met their eager expectations.
The message they received had some "God content" that made them to pay a closer attention to the message.

3. EAGERNESS TO HEAR
These Berean believers were not passive listeners. But they demonstrated eagerness in hearing the presentation of the message so that afterwards they would verify the message  against the written Word.(O.T. Scriptures)

4. EXAMINED THE SCRIPTURES
They took their time to reflect on what Paul taught them about Jesus the Saviour. They interrogated (asked questions) the Scriptures and every reference he made. They had their own discussion class or group that made them appreciate the ministry of Paul. Such is being a good student of the Word.

5. SOUND TEACHING TRANSFORMED LIVES
"As a result, many of them believed, as did also a number of prominent Greek women and many Greek men."
This is a good result of taking time to " Undérstand" the Word. There was a harvest of noble people from both the Jewish and Grecian  crops.

6. EVERYDAY
"Examined the Scriptures every day"
Consistency is the habit and culture of successful people. Anything done on a regular basis develops into a culture and good enough it forms part of your character. Character formation through the Word.

CONCLUSION
These Berean Jews distinguished themselves and end up being very effective in winning both Jews and Greeks to the faith.
